– Gundrilling Applications –

1. Conventional Gundrilling– If you already have Eldorado, DeHoff, Dadson, or other conventional Gundrilling equipment in house you're no stranger to the process. But...you're still occasionally going to get hit with sticky problems of rough finish, scoring, sudden rashes of drill breakage, hole drift, oversize (or undersize) holes, new applications, exotic materials, etc. When you don't find a fix fast, missed deliveries and diminished bottom line mount up quickly. We're skilled at getting to the bottom of your problem fast, usually over the phone.

2. CNC Applications– More and more users are finding that gundrilling as part of the CNC machining process can make a whole lot of sense. Where holes are deeper than the practical range of ordinary drills, a gundrill will outshine those broken tools and painful peck cycles almost every time. We look at your application and determine if gundrilling will do the job. If so, we provide all the specs and parameters you'll need for startup, and help you get up and running. Depending on the application, you may even be able to eliminate costly secondary operations.

3. Special Machine Applications– Where appropriate, more and more special machine builders are incorporating gundrilling operations into their equipment. It makes sense. Once the bugs are worked out (an unavoidable chore with ‘specials’) gundrills give minimal trouble and demonstrate excellent tool life in most applications.

4. Miscellaneous Applications– These are the other, seldom heard of uses– the guy in a Montana ‘Mom & Pop’ machine shop who straps a gundrill to his shop lathe and pokes deep holes (very slowly) with 100 psi of coolant pressure; or the instrument maker in Boston who uses his gundrill to generate the hole in a stick of ebony wood that will one day become a clarinet.

– Successful Gundrilling Consists of Two Primary Elements –

A sound and basic knowledge of the process and a sizable bag of tricks.
We possess the basic knowledge and the experience,
and you’ll be impressed by our 'bag of tricks'.

At first blush Gundrilling looks like one of those ‘black art’ processes
to be planned and executed only by 'the enlightened'.

On further inspection, it becomes evident that this process is like any other:
once you learn the do's and don'ts and gain some experience
the mystery suddenly melts away.

You'll quickly learn some tricks of your own and get to the point
where you know your process better than anyone else.
And that's when the need for Gundrill Experts,
Gurus and Drilwizards vanishes.
